The boys, lean and long legged had to wait until dark before they could show their interest in the girls.
Then there was a lot of running around in the dark, chasing neon fireflies and and calling out.

That's what happens at country parties when the adults just want to stand around, drink and talk. I can remember that.

Earlier in the day, Alan and the boys had been yabbying. He told us of the surprise when heading for a favourite dam, he came over the rise to view a dry hollow. The big dry has affected everyone. They still managed to find enough, and sorted out the bigger ones, returning the others for another time.
