A (yawn) visit to the Sydney Produce Market-2005

Bob is in his late seventies and has worked for David for many years. He's a nimble as someone  much younger, climbing on forklifts to check a carton, scuttling from one arrival to another. The first load of this broccoli was rejected, he made a call to the dealer to say 'it's too dry, too old' which brought a new forklift with different product packed in ice, with tight crisp green heads. You get the impression that the first lot was offered in the hope that no one would notice, as an opening gambit.

Bob confided that he'd resigned a few months back, saying he was too old, his wife had died and it was time to take it easy, but he said with a smile, "David wouldn't accept my resignation".
