Dean Street is the main street of Albury. If you're used to
travelling the Hume Highway through Albury you see the standard fast food, fast
motels and petrol stations. Just a few blocks over is the beautifully preserved
main street of this large inland city. The grand avenue that was Dean Street has changed and there
are now pedestrian islands, and the traffic flow has been cut back to make it a
quieter and safer place to shop and eat. Next time you come, hang a right from
Sydney or a left coming from Melbourne and slow down and look at the scenery. The
conference was sponsored in part by the local tourism agency
Destination Albury Wodonga.
