Mark
Kelly knows about Snow Food. Since he was a teenager, he's been skiing
(and eating and drinking) around the world. While he's always found the best
slopes, the food hasn't always matched. We included part of this story in our
first issue but there's more.
The
Collector Pumpkin festival has become the fun food event in the
Canberra/Capital country calendar. Quality produce, food stalls, and pumpkin
growing competitions and themed events. The town is small and delightful, the
community friendly. Read all about it.
This
was a longer entry from the archive of our
Editorial weblog which is meant to catch the small things day to day. This
piece expresses well what we care about and where our heart is at Regional Food.
"Do you know where just one ingredient of your last meal came from" No?
Read this.
Jackie
Cooper visited the Royal Mail Hotel, an up-market pub in the tiny town of
Dunkeld in Victoria's Grampians Region.
She suggests the steak, ok? |

Sometimes
we break out from our Season's Best
section which has that month's freshest varieties, regional specialties and cooking
tips to cover some produce in depth. As we travel the country we're building a
'regional food produce encyclopaedia' for our magazine which you'll all see when
it's cooked ok?
Pomegranates - Should you spit the
pips?
Capsicums - Columbus really, really
wanted them to be peppers.

All
our recipes come out of our stories which are also linked here
because that's the way we like it. While most are sourced from cook books
you probably have as well, (and which we credit),
some are from the producers themselves. They all use small popup
windows.
Summer pudding (cover story January 07)
Summer Salads (from January
'06 Season's Best)

Bake a Fougasse
(from The Collector Pumpkin Festival story)

Daylesford Winter Market story)
