Wonderful (fuzzy) Wellington
Ah press releases! What a wonderful way to keep you dear reader,
informed. The arrive, in mail, in email, attached to small
parcels of (usually) olive oil. And, if we think you'll
find them interesting, we share them.
It depends usually on their relevance to our regional food
agenda, or the genuine news quality, and an indefinable
story telling ability that catches my eye. In this case I'd
pretty much dismissed the Wellington Tourism release as
being, un Australian (you know what that means). The
press release announced that the Wellingtonians had
scooped the pool at the Cuisine Magazine (which we
like a lot)
Restaurant of the Year Awards
.
Top restaurant was Martin Bosley's who won the Best Fine Dining
category, and was the Supreme Winner. The Wellington region also took out two more awards, winning
three of the seven award categories.
Now, I might never have considered that wide enough interest
unless it was for, just one, of the photos that accompanied
the release. That's it at right. Makes you want to be
invited to a party like that doesn't it? And it solves all
the problems of having no model releases by masterfully
Photoshop blurring everyone, leaving a diagonal strip of
sharpness. At first impact it's great, just don't think
about it too much OK?
It's hard in the tourism business to cut through the
cynicism, and Wellington did it. So, now I guess you should go and see
their website
www.wellingtonnz.com.
