Where
is Capital Country? We live here but we still have trouble defining
it! The map gives you an idea of the tourist region called Capital Country which
starts at Young at it's top point almost to the coast.
The official website is
www.capitalcountry.com.au and that gives you a starting place, but we took a
new twist and looked at some of the historic villages that cut through this
beautiful food and wine region - Braidwood, Bungendore, Collector, Gundaroo,
Murrumbateman, Hall. |

INTRODUCTION
Take the back roads to history
These towns were here 100 years BC - that's Before Canberra. While they
wouldn't be the same without the nearby city, they're not just dormitory suburbs,
they have their own thriving good food culture. And of course this time there is the
fabulous cool climate wine!
Our
Magnificent Seven
Seven enterprises, one aim: to make regional food something special. Here they
are, walking down the main street of Braidwood - an organic orchardist, the wine
maker, the master gardeners, the butcher, the chef, the smoked smallgoods
producer and the brewer. Seven enterprises we think represent the region. Great
stories
